We had a very challenging case start treatment a few months ago. Ms X came in requesting that Miss Andrews made her front teeth look better. She was very conscious of their appearance and had very high expectations. There was an old crown with a black margin on the very front tooth, and the other front tooth had a bright white spot over which was a poor white filling trying to mask it [see 'Ms X' in the gallery].

Last week a patient phoned the surgery, as she was in a lot of pain. Our receptionist Debi asked the patient to come as soon as possible, so Miss Andrews can examine her. The patient arrived and was seen shortly. Miss Andrews found that the tooth was broken in half and half of the tooth was missing.There is still a bit of amalgam filling left; but repairing the tooth with another amalgam filling was not an option. This is because an amalgam filing does not bond to the tooth. Miss Andrews suggested that the tooth can be saved by the use of a CEREC inlay which will bond to the tooth and make it strong again. CEREC inlays are very strong and require minimal preparation. The CEREC porcelain comes in different shades so they are very aesthetically pleasing and best of all, the treatment is completed in one appointment. The patient agreed to this option and so we booked the patient in to start the treatment.
